Tucson 2008 Crop Walk

“TUCSON 2008 CROP WALK” TO BENEFIT
THE COMMUNITY FOOD BANK
ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 2nd

Tucson:   Join the “Tucson 2008 Crop Walk” on Sunday, November 2, 2008 to benefit the Community Food Bank.  The Crop Walk will kick off at Ramada #5 in Reid Park at 2:00 PM.  The Community Food Bank and Casa Maria Hospitality House will share 25% of the proceeds from the walk. .

What is a Crop Walk?  It is neighbors walking together to take a stand against hunger in our world.  Together members of the community raise awareness and funds for international relief and development as well as for the Community Food Bank.  The “Tucson 2008 Crop Walk” is part of a local, national and international effort sponsored by Church World Service to raise money for anti-hunger programs. More than 2,000 communities across the nation will walk to raise money in 2008-2009.

The Community Food Bank is experiencing an unprecedented demand for help due to the economic downturn.  How serious is the problem?  In August 2008, the Community Food Bank gave out 17,567 family food boxes. That is a 34% increase over August 2007. Monetary donations go a long way to help the hungry.  Every $1 the Food Bank receives, it can be leveraged into $9 worth of food due to its national buying power.

Join the “Tucson 2008 Crop Walk” on Sunday, November 2nd at 2:00 PM at Reid Park, Ramada #5 and help feed the hungry in Southern Arizona.
