Fall Harvest Festival and Food Drive at Broadway Village
Broadway Village, located at the southwest corner of Broadway and Country Club in the heart of Tucson, will host a Fall Harvest Festival on November 20th, the Friday before Thanksgiving. The adobe and brick landmark, having served Tucsonans for 70 years with its shaded courtyards, quaint shops, colorful potted flowers and brick patios, will provide a magical setting for local food, fun, music, dancing, storytelling, shopping, and kids workshops. Admission is free for the whole family, with an optional donation of non-perishable food items for the Community Food Bank.
The day-long festival will commence with a special edition of Friday Farmers Market from 9am to 2pm, featuring favorite Thanksgiving recipes presented by top local chefs, Native American artisans demonstrating their crafts, information presented by Native Seeds/SEARCH, and exhibits by more than 40 independent vendors of local and regional produce and products.
The Fall Harvest Festival will continue at 4pm with after-school activities for children of all ages, including a performance by the Redhouse Dancers in traditional Navajo costume, storytelling by Greg Loumeau, local children’s book author, artist and musician, and a children’s art workshop offered by KidzArtArizona. The festival will conclude at 6pm with the announcement of prize winners of a citywide coloring contest now underway for children 12 and under.
“With the Fall Harvest Festival, we all look forward to celebrating the season of Thanksgiving and to fostering a real appreciation for the cultural traditions and gifts unique to our diverse community,” said Randall Finfrock, a managing partner with Broadway Village, the event sponsor.
“It’s also a special opportunity for all of us to share our blessings by supporting the Community Food Bank during this time of great need.” Finfrock added.
Coloring contest templates for children 12 and under are now available at any participating Broadway Village merchant or by download at www.broadwayvillagetucson.com. Entries are due by November 19th.
