The Community Food Bank has announced that it is the recipient of a $30,000 grant from the Fry’s Food Stores. The grant comes as a result of the “Bringing Hope to the Table” campaign which allowed Fry’s vendors and customers to participate in the fight against hunger in Arizona.
“Fry’s $30,000 grant will allow the Community Food Bank to distribute $270,000 worth of food in Southern Arizona,” said Bill Carnegie, President/CEO. “This grant could not have come at a better time, as the demand for our services is at an all time high. Fry’s has certainly brought “Hope to the Table” of hundreds of families during these difficult times.”
Last year the Community Food Bank distributed over 22 million pounds of food, enough for 48,000 meals daily. Currently, the food bank is distributing food to over 24,000 households monthly in Southern Arizona.
This year, Fry’s Food Stores raised more than $168,000, which was awarded to nonprofit organizations that address serious issues of hunger in Arizona.

Sons of Orpheus, The Male Choir of Tucson along with the Students from the Arizona School for the Deaf and the Blind raise funds and gather food for the Community Food Bank each fall. The food drive culminates with a Gala Holiday Concert at the Berger Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, December 16th at 7:00 PM.
In this 12th Annual Concert the performers include students from the ASDB music department, the Sons of Orpheus and some surprise guests.
Admission to the concert is at least one non-perishable food item or, preferably, a monetary donation which you can make right now. If you choose to make an online donation please keep your receipt for concert admission.

KVOA and the Professional Firefighters are teaming up to present a “Season of Hope” – A Holiday Food and Toy Drive benefiting the Community Food Bank and the Toys for Tots program. Now through November 19th, area residents can bring a non-perishable food items to any Tucson Fire Station. Then Starting November 20 through December 18, those same Fire Stations will be drop off sites for any new unwrapped toy.
