“Scouting for Food” day

Saturday, December 11, 2010

Tucson: Saturday, December 11, 2010 will be “Scouting for Food” day in Southern Arizona.  Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts from the Catalina Council of the Boy Scouts of America will deliver collection bags to homes in their neighborhoods during the week of December 4th and will then return to collect the bags on Saturday, December 11th.  All food collected will benefit the Community Food Bank and other hunger relief organizations in Southern Arizona.

Residents are asked to place non-perishable food items in the collection bags at their front door by 8:00 AM on Saturday, December 11th.  The Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will collect the food and deliver it to the appropriate organization to help feed hungry families in Southern Arizona.

Scouting teaches youth the value of helping others and giving back to their communities.  By collecting food for hungry families throughout Southern Arizona, the Scouts are doing a good turn and helping other people

There are 430 units and almost 6,000 Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts in The Catalina Council of the Boy Scouts in Southern Arizona.  It is hoped that a majority will participate in “Scouting for Food.”
