Weight Watchers Open House and Food Drive

WHAT: Weight Watchers® in Tucson Fights Hunger and Obesity with 5th Annual Lose for Good® Food Drive and Free Open House

Proceeds will benefit the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona where, since 2008, Weight Watchers members and friends have donated 9,500 pounds of food. In addition, for the first four years of the Lose for Good campaign Weight Watchers members and friends donated 85,537 pounds of food to various hunger-relief organizations statewide.

The Community Food Bank’s DRIVE A-WAY HUNGER GEM CAR RAFFLE drawing will take place on Monday, October 1, 2012.  The drawing will be at the Community Food Bank at 3003 S. Country Club Road (Ajo and 36th) at 10:00 AM.

The deadline for purchasing tickets is Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 4:00 PM. Raffle tickets are $20 each or six for $100 here .

All proceeds will benefit hunger relief programs of the Community Food Bank.


This gently-used 2004 GEM battery-electric vehicle is being raffled as-is and is street legal in Arizona on roads posted at 35 mph or less. It drives up to 30 miles on one single charge, operates on a 72-volt battery system, and plugs into a standard 110-volt outlet for recharging.

The GEM car can be used on resorts, urban communities, as well as golf courses and local streets.

Rules: Must be 18 to participate; cost of ticket(s) is not tax deductible; winner is responsible for all taxes and licensing. Used vehicle is awarded “as is”. Winner to arrange transportation from our Country Club Road location. CFB staff and board are not eligible to participate. Drawing will be held on Monday, October 1, 2012. During Hunger Action Month, we ask that you take action against Hunger. There are many ways to help including  watching this video and sharing its message with your friends.

Sesame Street has put together some great resources about childhood hunger; as well as resources for children, parents & providers who are directly affected by hunger. FOOD FOR THOUGHT: EATING WELL ON A BUDGET is a bilingual, multimedia program designed to help support families who have children between the ages of 2 and 8 and are coping with uncertain or limited access to affordable and nutritious food.

Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona Seeks Volunteers to Distribute Food Bags In Pima, Arizona

 The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona is seeking volunteers to help with its food bag distribution in Pima, Arizona.  Distribution occurs one time per month on the first Tuesday.  Volunteers are needed from 9:00 AM to 12 Noon.

Community Food Bank Receives $40,000 Donation from Fry’s Food Stores

 The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona has received a $40,000 donation from Fry’s Food Stores.  The donation is from Fry’s “Bringing Hope to the Table” annual cause-marketing program partnership.  Since 2006 the program has directed over $25 million in funds and food to local food banks serving communities across the country.  Fry’s 2012 “Bringing Hope to the Table” campaign raised nearly $154,000.
