Fines for Food

Got Fines? Give Food!

2013_Food_for_fines

From April 14 to April 20, 2013, all customers with library fines are eligible for fine waivers. For every non-perishable food item donated, $1 in fines will be waived, to a maximum of $10. All donations will be given to the Community Food Bank or its branches.

Only overdue fines will be waived. Customers are responsible for all other fines and fees. All donations will be given to the Community Food Bank.

All locations are participating. Take food items along with your library card (s) to a customer service desk so that your fine(s) will be cleared. Library customers are encouraged to donate food at any location of the Pima County Public Library if they so desire. Food donations should be placed in collection bins located near the service desk.

In 2012, Food for Fines generated 10,533 food items for the Community Food Bank.

Food for Fines is held during National Library Week, which began in 1958 and is sponsored by the American Library Association. It celebrates the contributions of our nation’s libraries and promotes library use.
