Caridad Community Kitchen Receives Donation from “Tucson Veterans Serving Veterans”

Jon Wirtis, Executive Chef of the Caridad Community Kitchen, a program of the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, accepted a $1,000 check from “Tucson Veterans Serving Veterans” (TVSV) at their October 4th meeting.  The check was presented by Yolanda Hasler of the Salvation Army who was a key player in the meal support that TVSV provided homeless veterans during the bi-annual Stand Down event in Tucson.  Also on hand for the presentation was Bruce Hamilton, Chairperson TVSV.

TVSV commented that without the support of organizations like Caridad Community Kitchen, which has a long history of providing for the homeless population, TVSV could not accomplish its mission. This donation will go a long way to support Caridad Community Kitchen and demonstrates “Tucson Veterans Serving Veterans” commitment to give back to its community partners.

Caridad Community Kitchen prepares over 14,000 meals per month for the homeless & in need in our community and conducts a ten week culinary training program to train low income men and women for careers in the culinary profession.
