Community Food Bank Awarded $18k Grant

The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona has been awarded an $18,235 “2014 Poverty and its Effects on Children” grant by the Howard V. Moore Foundation held at the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona.  This grant will support the Farm-to-Child Program at twelve local schools.

The Farm-to-Child Program improves children’s access to healthy food in schools and the preschool/childcare environment.  The Community Food Bank uses its expertise in growing food to help parents and teachers learn to garden, and includes information on composting, hen raising, gardening, and food safety.
