What’s New:
The Ajo Community Food Bank has teamed up with its sister branch, the Amado Community Food Bank, Pima County and the Arizona Department of Education to bring an exciting new program to the children of Ajo. In June, Ajo Community Food Bank started Summer Meals.
Children can receive a free lunch in the Ajo School District cafeteria between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. This program will continue every day, Monday through Friday, until August 1st, 2006. It is estimated that as many as 350 children of the 478 children in the Ajo, Lukeville and Why area qualify for this program. Bart Lozano, the Ajo Food Bank’s advisory board president, says he hopes this program is extremely successful so that it will continue each summer.
A big THANK YOU to the Pima County Board of Supervisors who contributed an additional $15,000 to support the Summer Meals Program in the Ajo Community.
