Community Food Bank Receives an Almost 11,000 Pound Cereal Donation from Kellogg/Fry’s Partnership

The Community Food Bank has announced that it is the recipient of an almost 11,000 pound (1,089 cases) donation of cereal from a Kellogg/Fry’s partnership.  The donation comes as a result of the “Bringing Hope to the Table” campaign and will help feed hungry families in Southern Arizona.

One million dollars worth of food has been shipped to approximately 80 affiliates of Feeding America.  Another three million dollars will be available to Feeding America member food banks through a grant process. The Community Food Bank received a $40,000 grant in 2007/2008 and a $60,000 grant in 2008/2009 from the “Bringing Hope to the Table” campaign. Since its inception, the program has directed $20 million in funds and food to local food banks serving communities across the country.

“This donation provides thousands of boxes of Kellogg’s cereal to families in need here in Southern Arizona,” said Bill Carnegie, the Food Bank’s President/CEO.  “Thousands of local people are out of work and this donation could not have arrived at a better time.  Year round Fry’s has been an active partner in supporting our local food bank.”

Feeding America is the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity.  Its mission is to feed America’s hungry through a nationwide network of more than 200 member food banks and engage our country in the fight to end hunger.
