Value Foods Grocery

The Community Food Bank’s
On-Site Grocery Store

2008 CALENDAR

DRIVING DIRECTIONS
This small grocery store offers quality groceries at a low cost to everyone in our community.

Our on-site Grocery Store or Value Foods Store (VFS for short) was created to help meet the needs of families and others, who may not qualify for some of our other food assistance programs. However, there are no income qualifications to shop! The public is very welcome to shop at our grocery store.

VFS sells a variety of fresh produce, meats, canned items, pasta, frozen vegetables, entrée items, dairy products and much more. Our prices are 30%-70% less than your local grocery store. This gives our customers a chance to make their limited grocery money go a little farther.

Our grocery store isn’t just for individuals, either. We welcome churches and other organizations. We have some organizations that purchase huge quantities of our case lot items. Then there are other organizations that purchase “Gift Certificates” to give to their clients. These gift certificates can be used to purchase groceries up to the dollar amount on the certificate. These certificates must be presented by the person it was issued to and I.D. will be required to redeem the certificate. The certificates also carry an expiration date, we will not redeem them after that date.

We are also now carrying personal care and household care items. Razors, soap, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, toilet tissue, baby diapers, paper towels, facial tissue, garbage bags, laundry bleach and soap, etc. We will continue to add products to this line as we find them at reasonable prices. Since we are a non-profit grocery store we do not have to charge taxes on these non-food items. So, you can save even more !!

Our VFS grocery store does not sell any donated, dented, dinged or salvaged food items. Our products are purchased from brokers throughout the United States using funds from the sale of goods in our grocery store. Some of these products may be one of a kind items because of package size or a change in labeling. A few items are packaged specifically for VFS, i.e. the frozen ground beef and some of our granola cereals and some of our canned goods.

Our grocery store accepts cash, food stamps and bank debit cards, we do not however accept checks or credit cards. This helps us keep our costs down. If you are a church or organization you may apply through the Community Food Bank Finance Department to be considered for check cashing or an “account” to be paid in advance or billed on a monthly basis. We can also accept cash benefits from your Arizona Quest card!

The VFS grocery store is open Tuesday thru Friday from 9 am to 4:30 pm and on Saturday from 9 am to 1:30 pm. It is closed on Sunday and Monday.

During the month of June this year over 3,532 customers shopped at our grocery store. During the fiscal year 2005-2006 the Value Food Store served over 40,329 individuals. So, come on in and see what we have to offer you and help support us!!
